About

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law at SIMAD University is a dynamic academic unit dedicated to the advancement of legal education, research, and service in Somalia and the broader East African region. Its establishment was a long-standing aspiration of the University’s leadership, shaped through rigorous consultation with legal scholars and practitioners, and driven by the growing demand for qualified legal professionals in both the public and private sectors.

Officially inaugurated in September 2012, the Faculty of Law has since emerged as a cornerstone of SIMAD University’s academic offerings. Over the past decade, the Faculty has successfully graduated ten cohorts of law students who are now contributing meaningfully to Somalia’s legal system, governance institutions, and civil society. It is now widely recognized as one of the leading legal education institutions in East Africa, noted for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and the integration of legal theory with practical, real-world application.
