The Faculty of Law (FLAW), is one of SIMAD University’s faculties. It opened its educational and professional door to the public in September 2012, when the first cohort of students enrolled. Graduates of the Faculty of Law are primarily employed in the legal profession, judicial and legal service, law enforcement and legal advisors as well as in various professions from government administration to commerce, banking, finance, politics and non-governmental organizations. The faculty has a legal clinic centre to equip students with required practical skills and to better understand the procedures and guidelines to be needed in the real courtroom.

The establishment of this department was not an overnight dream but it has been lingering in the minds of the SIMAD leadership since the inception of SIMAD University. The idea has expanded after having long discussions with respective expertise and scholars in the field together with increasing demand from the public as well as the private sector. Therefore, SU has committed to play its role and put forward to lay down the foundation stone of the department which perhaps could be considered a step forward, and part and parcel of the expansion of SU programs and specializations.

Our vision is to be one of the leading Law Faculties in Somalia and the whole East African region.

Mission

Providing legal education of the highest possible standard in quality to students in the First Cycle of studies meaning undergraduate consistent with the practice and promotion of Islamic principles and teachings in the legal profession.
